ADIRONDACK INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY PULLS OUT OF MAARA FOLD; EVENT STILL TO TAKE PLACE WITH LARGE PURSE AND DART HEADS GIVEAWAY

New Bremen, NY – As May 19th, 2007 would have marked the season-opener for the Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Racing Alliance (MAARA) as well as the lid-lifter for the Adirondack International Speedway, one entity has been taken off the docket, and AIS will continue on, business as usual.

While a decision was made this past Wednesday the 18th, the Adirondack International Speedway decided to withdraw from the MAARA circle, effective immediately. “It was a decision we as a racetrack had to make. As we understand the MAARA vision and fully support and respect their efforts, it was in our best interest to drop the MAARA sanction for our May 19th event,” stated track manager, Billy Gibson. “While the MAARA rulebook is distinguished in comparison to ours, we found it hard to adjust to their rulebook for our May 19th event and at the same time keep all of our guys involved. The change to the MAARA guidelines is just a little ahead of our time.”
After speaking with MAARA forerunner, Joe Lewandoski an understanding was reached, and all possibilities of Adirondack joining the (MAARA) alliance down the road were left open.

At this time the Adirondack International Speedway will go on with their Champ 101-lap event for the ASA Challenger Late Models and the event will take place strictly under the AIS rules. In addition, all MAARA sanctioned cars are welcome to participate as both their tires (Hoosier 2060, 2070) and cars are legal by AIS standards. Based off a 30-car field the event will pay a bold $2,000 to the winner and will pay $300 to take the green. In addition the winner of the event will walk away with a brand-new set of DART heads, courtesy of AIS and DART Manufacturing.

The routine schedule for May 19th will go on as planned with Pit Gates swinging open at 12pm and the first heat of the night beginning promptly at 5pm. For any questions or concerns you can reach Gibson at the Speedway Office at (315) 346-RACE.
