AIS RENAMES PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED MAARA EVENT
New
Bremen, NY – "We're going to start an opening day
trend this year, our own little Daytona", proclaimed
AIS management from their Castorland, NY office this
past weekend. Giving themselves a short but positive
amount of time to promote, the Adirondack
International Speedway will open their state of the
art facility on May 19th with the first annual,
Renegade Spring Nationals.
After dropping the Mid-Atlantic Asphalt
Racing Alliance (MAARA) sanction from the event, AIS
officials brainstormed the thought of starting their
own event and policing the competition under their
own ASA Challenger Late Model rules. A verdict was
reached and the
Speedway will kick
their 2007 season off in a huge way.
With pit gates set to open at 12pm and
racing to begin at 5pm, the days events will be
headlined with the “Renegade Champ 101” for the Late
Model division. As all MAARA-spec Late Model cars
fit under the Speedway’s ASA Challenger Late Model
rules the car count is expected to reach an all-time
high. “All cars that planned to come here for the
MAARA event are still welcome, the only difference
is that this event will not be MAARA sanctioned or
under the MAARA rulebook,” stated General Manager
Billy Gibson. “We’re getting a lot of outside
interest coming from Western New York
and Pennsylvania.
This event will be a big deal as we’re expecting the
best of the best in asphalt Late Model racing.”
With the event marked as the first point
race for the Speedway, pit area admission will run
$30 for non-ASA members and $25 for all ASA Members.
Grandstand admission is set at $20 for General Adult
admission and $10 for kids. Ages 9 and under will be
permitted free of charge. The Renegade Champ 101
purse will be viewable on the speedway website
shortly.
While consistently
labeled as the premier short-track racing facility
in New York State, A.I.S. remains to build off years
prior as they single themselves out with the best
professional asphalt racing show in Northeast.
Located along Artz Rd. in Lowville, NY, A.I.S. hosts
ASA sanctioned racing every Saturday night through
the summer. |
