BRYANT TRIM WINS SECOND OF CAREER AT ADIRONDACK; NEWMAN, SHAFER AND TROMBLEY ALSO VICTORIOUS

NEW BREMEN – Back on May 27th of 2006, Morrisonville’s (NY) Bryant Trim motored to his first career victory in an Lyndaker Excavating and Trucking (L.E.T.) ASA Challenger Late Model and of course his first trip to victory lane at the tricky ASA-sanctioned speedplant of the Adirondack International Speedway. In that 101-lap event, Trim was ready to settle for the third position when the top-two of John Papin and Chris Ross tangled taking each of them out of contention and setting Trim on the point with just five laps to go. Trim maintained composure and brought home the popular victory that started his 2006 season off on the right foot.

Fast forward to 2007, Trim and team, still potent regulars at the Adirondack International Speedway and rightfully one of the strongest teams on the circuit, one would unquestionably guess Trim has doubled and tripled his winning plaques since that opening night back in 2006. Instead the team sat winless, proving their consistency Trim made a slew of runs within the top-five only to come short time in and time out. In 2007, and just this past Saturday Trim proved otherwise. After starting ninth on the ultra competitive grid, Trim quickly went to work and pulled into the front spot at lap eight. Soon after it was Trim holding off all top challengers including Tommy Cloce and Jason Herrington, fending off the two in a late restart on lap 47 of the 50-lap affair. As Cloce and Herrington brought it down to inches at the finish line, Cloce took second with Herrington, Lee Gill and Jerry Dineen rounding out the top-five. To the approval of the fans, just two yellow flag periods slowed the event the seventh event of the season for the headline division. The deserving win was worth $1,000 for Trim plus contingencies.

In the GotGoodCheese.com True Stock division, Bobby Newman started third in the 20-lap main and cycled on to win his first of the season at Adirondack. After taking the lead on lap two, Newman fought off point leader Dylan Bancroft in the second half of the event to claim the victory. To the pleasure of the crowd, Newman celebrated with a series of donuts down on the front stretch. Finishing third was Dave Arbes of Rome (NY) followed by JR Mooney in fourth and Art Newman, Jr. in fifth.

Going into the sixth event of the season, the D&D Powersports Sport Compact division saw five different winners with the latter being Scott Shafer of Oswego (NY). Shafer, much less dominant over his competitors, took the victory last week fighting off point leader Al Brigham in the closing laps. This week it was deja’vous with another heavy hitter on his heels when the laps were seen dwindling down. Shafer at the point set smooth and quick pace at the front while Tom Dubach of Lowville (NY) came chasing at a torrid pace. Maintaining a comfortable lead, Dubach began to reel him in, and with just two laps to go looked to be able to catch him by races’ end. When the checkered fell it was Shafer all over again with Dubach on his bumper across the line. Brigham took third with Rudy Widrick and Larry Costa filling the front-five positions.

A 24-truck field was greeted with a frantic green flag of starter Tim Barone and immediately the action was poured on heavy. With four and five wide racing a norm, the feature event saw its first lead change on lap two with Tom McIntyre taking the lead from his fifth starting position. Leaving both fans and officials on their feet the large field traded position both high and low when Bill Aganier came calling from his 13th starting spot. Taking the lead on lap 10, Aganier ran away from the rest of the field and down to the checkered flag for his first win of the season. During post-race technical inspection Aganier was disqualified for rules infractions handing over the winning laurels to the first legal truck across the line, in that of Jim Trombley. For Trombley it was his first of his career at Adirondack. Out of Glenfield (NY), Trombley started 12th in the 20-lap affair and held off top competitors in Steve Ellis, Zach Arthur, Keith Delles and Tom McIntyre as the four filled the finishing top-five.

Notes: The nights events were highlighted with a prolonged Family Autograph, and meet n’ greet session that took place during intermission. Also on tap was a Kids Candy and Coin Toss being directed by infield announcer, John Flock. Always a treat, a large number of children came down to celebrate “Schools Out! Night” at the Speedway. Despite these events the entire four division show was completed in just three hours. Next week at the Speedway, home of “New York’s Premier Asphalt Racing” is one of the largest attended events of the season. Spirit of ’76 Weekend will be headlined with a 76-lap ASA Challenger Late Model special. Bike Night and “Parade of Bikes” is also on the racecard, serving as a Ride4Kids Benefit. A large fireworks display will cap the night, in celebration for the nations independence.
